This section outlines guidance for Local Admins (LAs) following the switchover day. While no specific actions are required, proactive monitoring remains essential to ensure a successful transition.
It’s crucial to be aware of changes introduced after the migration, such as the source tenant being set to read-only and the implementation of hypercare support. These changes may impact users, and your understanding of them will be key to addressing any queries or concerns effectively.
What changes after switchover day
Read Only in the source tenant – On the day of migration, all migrated content in the source tenant will be set to read-only. This measure ensures that users transition fully to the NHS.net environment and begin adapting to the new setup without relying on the legacy system.
Admin Portal – All changes to managing access will need to be made in the central platform in portal.nhs.net
Hypercare – Hypercare is a focused support phase following the migration to NHS.net, aimed at resolving post-migration issues, ensuring user adoption, and stabilizing the new environment. During this period, Local Admins (LAs) will collaborate closely with the migration team to address any challenges and maintain a smooth transition for all users.
- The migration team will work alongside LAs to handle more complex post-migration issues.
- LAs will address common user concerns such as login issues, missing files, or application configuration, escalating unresolved issues to the migration team as needed.
- Actively monitor devices, applications, and workloads in the NHS.net environment.
Hypercare Two Week Timeline

Escalation Protocols
The escalation process ensures smooth handling of any issues during the migration process:
- Local Admins (LAs):
- LAs are the first point of contact for users, responsible for addressing common queries and ensuring devices and applications are ready for the migration.
- They play a critical role in monitoring systems and escalating unresolved issues promptly.
- IT Support Desk:
- The IT support desk is responsible for managing routine tickets and technical issues raised by users.
- Any issue that exceeds the scope of the LAs’ support responsibilities should be directed to the IT support desk for further investigation.
- Migration Team:
- The migration team serves as the final line of support. They handle complex or critical issues that cannot be resolved by the IT support desk or LAs.
- This team is not responsible for day-to-day user support but focuses on migration-specific challenges.
