This page provides guidance to help you sign in successfully and use web‑based Microsoft apps for Outlook, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint etc with your NHS.net account.
Follow the guidance below to ensure you can access NHS.net services smoothly alongside your local organisation account.
- Choose the option that matches your usual browser:
- If your organisation has provided specific browser instructions for accessing NHS.net applications and sites, please follow those instructions.
Or
- Use an InPrivate / Incognito browser window to ensure you sign in with the correct account by following the instructions for your browser of choice below:
Google Chrome:
a) Open Chrome
b) Press Ctrl + Shift + N
c) A new Incognito window will open
Microsoft Edge:
a) Open Edge
b) Press Ctrl + Shift + N
c) A new InPrivate window will open
2. In the address bar, copy and paste this address: https://www.microsoft365.com/apps
and hit Enter to load the Microsoft online apps portal.


3. A Microsoft screen will pop up.
Enter your NHS.net email address and click Next.

4. You will then be taken to the sign in page.
Enter your password and click Sign in.
Please ensure you have ticked ‘This is a private computer’.

5. Authenticate your NHS.net account using your chosen authentication method.

NOTE: If you have not set up MFA you may get a pop-up that looks something like this:

6. Once you have successfully authenticated your NHS.net account, you will be directed to the main Microsoft Apps page.
On the bottom left of the screen, your initials and name will be visible.
Click on this icon to confirm you are correctly signed in with your NHS.net account.

7. On the left pane of the main page, you will see ‘Apps’ listed. Click on this to access your applications for Outlook, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint.

8. To access Outlook, click on the Outlook icon to open your NHS.net mailbox.

9. A new tab will open and your NHS.net mailbox will load on screen.
Please allow some time for it to load on screen before you start seeing your emails and calendar.


11. Select Add shared folder or mailbox.

12. In the pop-up box, type the email address of the shared mailbox e.g. sharedmailbox@nhs.net and click Add.

13. The shared mailbox will appear on the left. You may need to refresh your browser for it to fully load on the Outlook Web App.

14. To access OneDrive, click on the OneDrive icon to open a new tab with your files and folders.

Please allow some time for it to load on screen.
On the left, there will be a panel where you can access your files and shared items.

15. To access Teams, click on the Teams icon to open a new tab with your NHS.net Teams account.

Please allow some time for it to load on screen and set up.
You will then see your NHS.net Teams profile.


17. To open OneNote online:
(a) Hover over the OneNote icon on the Apps main page.
(b) Select the three dots (…).
(c) Click Open in a new tab.
It will load onto a new tab where you can access your Notebooks.

18. To open Office Apps online, click on the App icons from the main page e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Each App will load onto a new tab.
