This page provides guidance on signing in to more than one Office 365 account.
Setting up your browser to access NHS.net and another Microsoft 365 account
Follow these steps to set up browser profiles and access both NHS.net and another Microsoft 365 account (e.g your organisation account) using two browser profiles.
Steps for using Microsoft Edge:
- Open Microsoft Edge. Select the ‘Settings’ option and a new page will open with the settings.
- Profiles should be pre-selected, but if not select the profiles tab.
- To add a profile, select ‘Add Profile’ in the top right hand corner and Add Profile on the pop-up/


4. A new browser window will open with your new profile. If you are prompted to Switch Profiles, as below, select ‘No thanks. Additionally, If the below pop up on recommended browser settings appears, select ‘Not Now’.


5. Select on the profile. If your nhs.net account is already showing, select ‘Sign in to sync data’.

Alternatively, in the ‘Choose an Account’ drop down list, select ‘add new account’

6. Sign in with your nhs.net credentials (you may need to approve multi-factor authentication request)

7. Select ‘Sign in to this app only’. You will now have another window of Edge with your nhs.net credentials signed in. You will be able to use this to access your migrated data on browser.
8. Pin the new Edge window to your taskbar, right click on the icon and select ‘Pin to taskbar’.

8. Verify you can access the NHSmail tenant via https://portal.office.com.
9. You have now set up a secondary browser profile using your @nhs.net account.
Steps to enable Automatic Profile Switching in Microsoft Edge
It is recommended that you set up your Microsoft Edge to automatically switch profiles, to automatically access NHS.net sites with your NHS.net account.
- Select the 3 dots in the top right hand corner of the Microsoft Edge browser

2. Select Settings from the list.

3. Select Profiles on the left side, and select Profile preferences on the right side under the Your profile section.

4. Automatic profile switching should be automatically on. If it is not, select the lever to turn on automatic profile switching.

5. Select the default profile you want to open links from email and other applications in the Default profile for external links drop down.

6. To add your NHS.net account, select the Add button at the bottom of the page.

7. In website, enter ‘nhs.sharepoint.com’ and in Profile, select the profile you just created for your NHS.net account.

8. Select Add. You have successfully set up profile switching for any NHS.net SharePoint Sites. Whenever you click on a NHS.net SharePoint site link, your edge profile will automatically switch to your NHS.net account and you will not be required to log in.
9. Repeat steps 6 to 8 for websites:
- nhs-my.sharepoint.com
- portal.nhs.net
This will ensure you are automatically logged into your OneDrive and the NHS.net Portal with your NHS.net account.
Steps for setting up an additional profile in Google Chrome:
1. Open Chrome and select your profile in the top right corner. Under ‘Other profiles’, select ‘Add’.

2. Select ‘Continue without an account’.

3. Add in a name or label, keep the ‘Create a desktop shortcut’ tick box checked and select ‘Done’.

4. A new Chrome browser under the new profile will pop up. Then navigate to ‘https://portal.office.com’ and sign in with your nhs.net credentials (you may be need to approve multi-factor authentication request).
5. You can now access the nhs.net browser profile from Chrome going forwards.
